Erika
Erika is a radical Doula / birth worker and owner of Birthing Undisturbed from Murfreesboro, TN USA, where she lives with her partner, three kids, and three dogs. Erika came to birth work after her second birth by induction of her daughter in 2016, when she started intensive research about birth as a non-medical event and rite of passage. Understanding autonomous physiological birth led her to freebirth her last baby in 2019 into her partner's arms in the comfort of her home. She completed her first doula training by Blissful Birthing, TN in August of 2019 and completed Indie Birth Association’s ‘Birth Warrior Project’ in early 2020.
As a birthworker her goal is to be of support however it might look to the birthing family. She believes a safe, autonomous, and honourable birth and postpartum recovery is a birthright. She is passionate about helping people achieve a positive, trauma-free experience as mental health is important to her. She is currently enrolled in Birth Trauma Training for Birthworkers; she is also attending Spinning Babies in May 2020 and Breech Without Borders in November 2020. She is dedicated to serve women of all backgrounds, especially women of color and low-income families in her area. She offers virtual support to families regardless of where they live and free consultations. Erika loves spending time with her family, nature walks, worshipping the sun, or cuddling one of her pups.
